The School of Golf for
Women
Singing Hills Resort El Cajon, California
The
renowned School of Golf for Women at Singing Hills Country Club at Sycuan has
been teaching women how to chip, putt, and swing for more than 23 years – with
one goal in mind: lowering their handicaps.
Founded in 1979, the School of Golf for Women was the first all women’s golf school in the country taught exclusively by women. Based on the ideal of creating a supportive environment of peers, the school addresses specific golf skills and techniques needed by women. Golf is not only a hobby and form of exercise for many women, but female executives are learning to leverage the networking aspect of the game.
“You can learn a lot about a person by spending five hours on a golf course: how they react in stressful situations, how they handle defeat." said Barbra Obrien, lead instructor. “We offer women a non-intimidating environment so they can better their games and play confidently with business associates.”
The School of Golf instructors are accomplished LPGA professionals, many of whom are former or current champions. Unlike other schools, students practice on the golf course, so they can apply what they've learned -- from pitching, chipping and putting to effectively using each club in the golf bag and efficiently maneuvering around the golf course.
Most importantly, the School of Golf provides women with a hands-on learning environment unlike any other. Its unique “group” format pairs one instructor with five students -- allowing participants to make significant improvements in their game during each session.
