With a career that stretches many years, Annette Thompson is the consummate professional. She attained an undergraduate degree in Physical Education from the University of North Carolina and graduate degree specializing in Sport's Psychology from Smith College.
Annette has instructed at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie (NY) and Smith College in Northampton (MA), was an Assistant Professor and Women's Golf Coach at Penn State University, and has been the Director of Education for the National Golf Foundation. She is currently on the advisory panel for Titleist & FootJoy Worldwide, and is Director of Instruction for the USA Junior Golf Association's Summer Program.
An editor and author, Annette has written many professional publications including The Golf Instructor's Guide for the NGF, Cub Scout's Golf, Business Golf Handbook, and Junior Competitor's Handbook. She was a ghost writer on Jack Grout's Golf Clinic. Currently she is a contributing writer for GOLF FOR WOMEN Magazine, Golf Digest, Senior Golfer, Tee Time a New England Women's Golf Magazine, Executive Women's Golf League, and Golf & Travel Northwest.
Annette was a technical advisor and writer on "How to Play Your Best Golf", an instructional video series that was the first golf program to be nominated for cablevision's ACE award. She wrote and was featured in "Women's Golf", which includes two 40 minute videos. The first golf video specifically for women, taught by women who are nationally recognized for their excellence in golf instruction. This video also includes Peggy Kirk Bell, DeDe Owens, Carolyn Hill and Muffin Spencer-Devlin. In addition, Annette has written a beginner's instructional video for Kodak with the great hall-of-famer Patty Berg entitled "Mastering the Basics".
Throughout her career, Annette has given back to the industry in many ways. From 1981-1985, she was National President of the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Division, and was on the advisory committee for the development of the LPGA International, a multi-faceted golf community and home of LPGA headquarters. In 1994, she received the first "Master Teacher of Golf" for the Ellen Griffin Endowment at UNC Greensboro, and was selected the 1985 LPGA National Teacher of the Year.
