Balance at address, dynamic balance through the swing, and balance at finish,
are some of Ben Witter's philosophies. This photo at the left,
demonstrates his balance during one of his Power Golf Performance
clinics.
A three-time NCAA All American from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and a two-time NCAA Long Drive Champion, Ben's career has spanned over twenty years. He played on a number of mini tours (J.C. Goosie, North Florida, Space Coast, Florida, Nike, and Hogan) over a six year period before turning his attention to teaching the game of golf.
He was also a two-time finalist in the Re-Max World Long Drive Championship with a competitive long drive of 409 yards. Ben holds the course record at Iron Valley Golf Club (66), at Royal Oaks Golf Club (63), at Foxchase Golf Club (61), and at Indiana Country Club (63). He was inducted into Lebanon Valley Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
Ben was the Director of Instruction at Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon and prior to that he was head professional for two years at Royal Oaks Golf Club and at Foxchase Golf Club from 1991 to 1996. Ben received his degree in Business Administration at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1986, and attained his Class "A" status in the PGA in 1989.
Ben
conducts private lessons, golf schools, and other instructional programs. His
philosophy centers around establishing a sound set-up of fundamentals. Then he teaches a basic 3-stage balance approach to the golf swing.
He encourages his students to understand and be able to
recognize their balance in these three positions and then simply allows an athletic motion and rhythm to occur.
His greatest personal accomplishment is overcoming a battle with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma and being able to give something back through the game of golf. Ben once played 306 holes of golf in a one- day golf marathon to raise money for Cancer research. He averaged 69.2 for 17 rounds.
