GOLF TIP
by Lynn McNee"Tension"
Tension kills the golf swing!! Tension starts in the hands and if you want to have any chance of making a great golf swing you need to lose the tension in your grip. When holding the club properly the tension should be minimal. On a scale of 1-10 you should hold the club at about a 3 or a 4. The more you hold the club in your fingers the easier it is to keep the tension light. Try this technique the next time you are sitting in your car at a stoplight: Squeeze the steering wheel as tight as you can (this would be at a 10). Notice how the muscles tighten all the way up to your shoulders and neck. Your teeth will probably clench too. Now, just relax and hold the wheel with your fingers (at about a 4). As the tension eases, move your arms and shoulders and notice how they gain some fluidness. Try this the next time you are setting up to a golf ball. Hopefully, you will find the proper grip pressure that will enable you to make a tension free swing.
