Don Ashcraft, Golf Instructor
Bixby Village Golf Center - Signal Hill,
California
Brea Muni Golf Course - Brea, California
A
professional golf instructor with many years in teaching men, women, boys and girls, Don
Ashcraft teaches beginners how to play golf so they can enjoy the game, and
advanced golfers the techniques which increase their accuracy and enjoyment. And even
those scratch players who want to improve.
Innocently, in 1952 he accepted an invitation from his employer for a round of golf, never thinking that it would turn out to be the challenge that it was. His challenges in those days were winning races, as he was a professional motorcycle racer ("Flat Tracker"). Not only has golf provided him with some of his life's great challenges, but it has also provided him with great joy. While the excitement of a good competitive win in racing is somewhat different than golf, nothing can compare to the personal satisfaction and fun one receives when winning a hard fought golf tournament.
That alone has created within him a "win only" approach to golf. Don has won more than his share of amateur tournaments and club events too, not to mention the 28 "Hole in One's" he has to his credit. Don has won over 40 tournaments, 10 club championships, including 3 "Knights of Columbus" Open Tournaments (1983, 1984 and 1985). He knows what is required to compete in tournaments and win.
Don's avocation with golf over the years, since the beginning, has changed to a professional vocation, whereby he has instructed at several major Southern California golf facilities, and in some cases became an integral part of their management team.
Currently, you will find Don teaching at one of Southern California's finest golf
ranges, and rated among the "Top 10" newest in the United States by the Golf
Range Association of America. Bixby Village Golf Center is as good as it gets for practice,
lessons, or shopping for high tech golfing equipment. Now, teaching golf provides Don with
great satisfaction and makes him a good living. If you want to hit your shots straight and
where you want, call and make an appointment for lessons with Don at (562)
