Michael Brisbane,
PGA Teaching Professional
Spring Hill College Golf Course - Mobile, Alabama
An
experienced PGA teaching professional, Michael Brisbane has taught
thousands of lessons to students of all ages and skill levels in both private
and group settings. His background includes the development and implementation
of a highly successful indoor golf instruction program for the Hoover Parks and
Recreation Department. His basic teaching skills have also been put to use
training high school athletic coaches to apply his motor skills learning
technique to other sports at a seminar held at the University of Montevallo.
A specialist in junior golf instruction, Michael has seen several of his junior students reach the state championship level under his direction. Michael’s teaching style and commitment to mastering the basic fundamentals were honed by years of working for Golf Digest instructors in both corporate golf schools and private lesson situations. His knowledge of golf tournament operations has been recognized by the Birmingham Golf Association, the Alabama Golf Association and the Alabama State High School Athletic Association for whom he has provided tournament scoreboard services for the past several years.
Michael’s students note him for his ability to adapt his teaching style to fit the student, as evidenced by the special golf instruction clinic he created for twelve special needs students through the Hoover REACT program for the mentally disabled.
Michael believes in developmental theory of instruction based in golf fundamentals, building a solid foundation beginning with pre-swing and working into in-swing factors. He works with students to foster sound golf skills through repetitive motion training using theories developed by experts in motor skills learning. His approach is long-term, but can be applied in a short-term setting to realize significant improvement in ball flight in just one day. His golf lessons involve intense video analysis allowing the student to visualize insufficiencies in their swing to begin the corrective process. He is equally adept at teaching both beginners and advanced players in private sessions or groups.
An Alabama native, Michael can help you continuously improve your golf game, or to schedule a lesson call (251) 490-3812.
