Jane Broderick PGA/LPGA Golf Professional
PGA National Golf Club - Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

Not your average golf professional, Jane Broderick's first love was Alpine skiing.  Beginning at age 2, racing by age 7, she was chosen the best all around skier and was the recipient of the New York State Public High School Skimeister Award in 1978 and 1979.  After high school, Jane spent a year competing in Colorado.   She was ranked Nationally and Internationally in slalom and giant slalom, and even trained with the Australian Junior National Ski Team.

After attending New England College in Henniker, NH and St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY., she received her BA in Physical Education and Biology at the University of New York at Cortland in 1983.  In the summer of 1985, Jane moved to Florida and went to work in the golf bag room at PGA National, and nine years later became the Head Professional.

Jane's accomplishments in the PGA and LPGA only exemplify her abilities.  She was elected to membership in the PGA in 1990 and became Class A with the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division in 1994.  She is a faculty member with the PGA of America Specialty Certification - Tournament Operations.  She reviews level one Golf Professional Training Program (GPTP) work for the PGA, and has coordinated and hosted many PGA workshops.

Jane is a Member Advisor and Test Site Coordinator for the LPGA Southeast Section.   This year she was chosen as the 1998 LPGA National Professional of the Year presented by Spalding.  This award is one of the highest honors annually bestowed to a member who has distinguished herself among her peers in the overall administration, management and operations of a golf facility.  Kay McMahon, National President of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division stated, "This award has distinguished Jane as a leader, role model, and a valued representative of the LPGA, placing her name among the elite of our profession.  The LPGA applauds and compliments Jane on her achievements and successes."

Her numerous achievements include piloting and publishing the PGA National Emergency Access Map, which identifies access routes for emergency medical personnel and equipment for 72 holes of on-property golf.   She is the 1998 winner of the Apex Award, given by the National Association of Golf Tournament Directors.  In addition, she has conducted weekly complimentary golf clinics for women from May to September, covering rules, etiquette, short game and full swing; planned and directed a 1998 all-area junior clinic featuring entertainment, prizes and golf instruction to 600 attendees; and served as the host professional at the 1998 Michelle McGann Golf Classic in April 1998, which raised more than $400,000 for diabetes research.

Jane's busy schedule doesn't allow her much time to teach, but she does enjoy working with beginning golfers.  In June, she will be hosting an LPGA workshop at PGA National for Students with Disabilities.
