Barry BrumfieldA Life Member of the PGA of America, Barry Brumfield has served in a plethora of capacities at four Northern California golf facilities. He was Head Professional, Manager, and Superintendent  at Meadowmont Golf & Country Club in Arnold, Director of Golf and General Manager at Sequoia Woods Country Club in Arnold, Head Professional at Contra Costa Country Club in Pleasant Hill, and Head Professional at San Jose Country Club. After more than eight years at San Jose Country Club, he left in January 1998 to pursue a new career as a Financial Advisor. He is currently as Associate Vice President with Morgan Stanley in Cupertino, CA. He currently splits his time between the Santa Clara Valley and Salt Lake City (UT) where he makes his home.

During his 25 years in the PGA, Barry has served in many capacities. He sat on the Board of Directors for the Northern California Section PGA (NCPGA) from 1985-1991. During that time he was Secretary, Vice-President, President, and chaired the Rules Committee for a number of years. He was the Education Chairman for the Section four years running, implementing many new education programs for professionals in Northern California. Four times (1987-1990), he was awarded the prestigious PGA Horton Smith Award, given to recognize a professional for outstanding and continuing contributions to golf professional education.

Barry has worked on several PGA national committees over the years, including the National Education Committee, the Professional Development Committee and currently on the notable PGA Rules of Golf Committee. By certifying as a Specialist in Tournament Operations and the Rules of Golf, Barry was one of the first professionals to participate in the newly established PGA Specialty Certification Program. This program honors those who show special skills and experience in a number of specific areas of expertise in professional golf. Not currently active in the golf business, Barry attends a number of tournaments each year for the PGA of America, acting as a Tournament Rules Official at events such as the PGA Club Professional and PGA Championships.

Nightly you will find Barry instructing golf under the lights at the Pin High Golf Center in San Jose. During his weekends at home in Layton (near Salt Lake City), he spends time teaching at various practice areas in the Salt Lake/Ogden area, such as Golf in the Round. Having written his College Masters Thesis on "The Effects of Mental Practice on the Learning of Golf Skills" you will find he specializes in the mental side of the game and "keeping it simple". Barry is also happy to conduct clinics or seminars on the Rules of Golf for groups or clubs.
