Judy Carls, LPGA Teaching Professional

For over twenty years, Judy Carls was a golf coach at Moline High School in Moline, IL.  She served as the permanent chairman of the Illinois High School Golf Advisory Board, and was inducted into the Illinois Golf Coaches Hall of Fame in 1993.

Judy graduated from Western Illinois University in 1983, earning a Masters degree in Sport Administration.  She coached at Cypress College in Southern California from 1994 to 96, is a  Phi Kappa Phi member of the Long Beach Optimist Club, and is listed in Who's Who American Women. 

In 1998, Judy was responsible for authoring and receiving a grant from the USGA for $45,000 to implement the Long Beach Little Linksters.  This introductory golf program for youth 8 to 14, provides juniors a free week of golf instruction, a beginning set of clubs, and six weeks of group lessons before being registered in the year round program with the Long Beach Junior Golf Association.  The first program is scheduled to be held July 5 - 9, 1999.

Judy is a Class A member of the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Division, joining in 1983.  She has served as a Member Advisor for the past four years.  Since 1993, Judy has volunteered as an instructor at a number of women's clinics, including the Soroptimist Women's Golf Clinic in Carmel, CA, and the nationally recognized Gillette LPGA Golf Clinics for Women.   She instructs at the local  Interface Golf Clinics in Los Angeles and works closely with the City of Long Beach Parks and Recreation by holding clinics for youth.  She is a certified Lange Golf clubfitter.
