Tom Conway, PGA Golf
Professional
Nick's Golf Center - Elkhart, Indiana
Working as an assistant for his father at Christiana Creek Country Club, Tom Conway became a PGA Professional in 1960. His first head professional position was four years later at Orchard Hills Country Club in Niles, MI.
During that time, Tom was the course superintendent, and it was then the club managers asked him to help design an additional nine holes. Agreeing, he drew up the hole routings, and the next thing he knew he was building those additional nine holes. Growing up in the golf business, with his father as his teacher, was the best schooling Tom ever received.
Tom's career has included holding similiar positions at A.J. Thatcher Golf Club in Indianapolis (IN), Pekin Country Club in Pekin (IL), Golf Hammock Country Club in Sebring (FL) and Mill Creek Golf Club in Rochester (IN). In the mid 1980's, he served as a board member with the Indiana Section of the PGA.
After retiring from facility management, he has devoted his efforts to teaching at Nick's Golf Center in Elkhart, and operates his own golf merchandise business. For Conway Golf Group, Tom represents over fifteen companies with clubs, putters, bags, training/teaching aids, gloves, apparel, and Tom's favorite, U.S. KIDS KLUBS.
