Sally Dodge, LPGA
Teaching Professional
Pebble Beach Golf Links - Pebble Beach, California
More
than 25 years
ago, Sally Dodge was the first female golf professional ever to be hired
at Pebble Beach Golf Links. She has met, and played with countless pros, celebrities, and
world leaders.
Although her dad got her started in golf at age 9, Sallys focus in school and through college was on academics. She received her business administration degree from Northern Arizona University, and entered the corporate world. But enjoying the game so much, she decided to try and qualify for the LPGA Tour. Completing five q-schools she attended, and almost qualifying once, Sally turned her attention to the teaching and club professional division.
Finally, Sally has earned her "Ph.D. in Golf", the honor of becoming a Master Professional. Her prerequisites have included 22 years as an LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Division member, four years getting to Class A status, fifteen years in good standing, and three-hundred re-certification points, including 50 for service gathered by attending numerous clinics, seminars, workshops and competitions. This Master Classification is a distinction held by only 63 other LPGA members worldwide.
Sally serves on the California Womens State Amateur Championship Committee. As a member of the Soroptimist International of Carmel Bay, she volunteers her time for the Monterey Peninsula Womens Golf Clinic, which is held annually to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and breast cancer research. She is also an instructor at the Pebble Beach Golf Academy, as well as the Santa Catalina School.
In 1994, Sally was selected by her peers as the LPGA Western Section Professional of the Year, an award presented annually to a woman golf professional who is involved in the golf operation. Over the years, her unofficial duties have included encouraging many a woman (and a few men) onto Pebble Beachs intimidating links. She conducts a variety of clinics, teaches private lessons and continues to spread the good word about this beautiful Monterey Peninsula resort. In February 2001, Sally was chosen as one of 50 Top Teachers by GOLF FOR WOMEN magazine.
