David Lilford, PGA Golf
Professional
Midland Trail Golf Club - Louisville, Kentucky
Named the 1997 Kentucky Section PGA Assistant Professional of the Year, David Lilford became a Class A member of the PGA of America the very same year. He is currently the Assistant Professional for Patrick Barry, named the 1998 Kentucky Section PGA Professional of the Year.
David has been teaching since 1992, but his true introduction to golf began at the PGA Championship Golf Experience in 1996, held in conjunction with the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club. The Kentucky Section Professionals gave lessons throughout the tournament, and David gave over 100 quick lessons in one day.
Currently instructing David Reusch, the 1998 Pepsi Tour Junior Player of the Year in the 14 to 15 year-old division, David's philosophy when it comes to teaching is "that the teacher should listen before deciding on a course of instruction." He finds that different students want different things and it is important to understand what that is, therefore he prefers to take a longer approach to teaching and emphasize the importance of practice.
David is a graduate from the University of Louisville with a degree in Economics.
