Jameson Lloyd, PGA Golf
Professional
Ellington Golf Center - Ellington, Connecticut
Utilizing his formal education in management, Jameson Lloyd became a Head Professional at Blue Fox Run Golf Course and Fox Run at Copper Hill, after being the assistant professional at the 1926 Donald Ross designed Wampanoag Country Club in West Hartford, CT. He received his BS from the University of Connecticut in 1996 with a concentration in small business and entrepreneurship. Now he owns his own range in Ellington, CT.
As a Class A member of the PGA of America, Jamie received the Top-Flite Assistant's Scholarship for the Golf Professional Training Program (GPTP). For over two years, Jamie has been very active in the PGA, serving on the Connecticut PGA Rules Committee, the Connecticut PGA Tournament Staff, and the Connecticut PGA Junior Golf Committee. He will chair the 1999 Maxfli PGA Junior Championship for the Connecticut PGA.
In 1998, Jamie was the Chairman of the Hartford Youth Golf Program. This joint effort between the Connecticut State Golf Association and the Connecticut Section PGA Assistants' Association, is an inner-city golf program designed by Jamie for the youth of Hartford. The program utilizes station teaching. This principle uses many areas set-up for specific purposes, such as education and reinforcement. Stations are timed, but it moves fast and is fun. Over 80 juniors have participated each day during the four-day program. The pinnacle achievement was the help that was provided by world renowned golf motivationalist Dennis Walters. Mr. Walters is handicapped and performs from a specially designed golf cart., demonstrating to the juniors that one can overcome anything.
Jamie is an active player, as evidenced by his victory in the 1998 Connecticut Section PGA Bob Kay Commemorative Pro-Member Tournament at Wampanoag Country Club. He posted eight birdies en route to his winning score of 69. With all of Jamie's involvement in the PGA he does not play as much, instead he has dedicated himself to teaching a lot of juniors with non-stop accomplishments. He also has made great strides in teaching women. One of his long-time students, qualified for the 98 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship. Jamie believes setting goals which take diligence to achieve is just as important as a PGA TOUR player winning a major.
Using a full compliment of teaching tools, Jamie has a private teaching tee, private bunker and chipping green. He can provide club fitting and product information upon request. Jamie is located at Ellington Golf Center on Route 83 (20 minutes from Agawam). The facility has enclosed outdoor heated tee areas for practice all year round, and an indoor hitting net with a video system.
