Apple Tree Golf Course -
Yakima, Washington
As
the former Director of Player Development and Instruction at the Learning Center at
Continental Golf Course in Scottsdale, AZ, Cindy MacNider had her hands full.
Most recently, Cindy has relocated during the winter months to Apple Tree GC. A
"Class A"
member of the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional
Division, Cindy served as the Western Section Secretary from 1996-2000, and has
recently been elected by her peers to serve as President for the 2002-2004 term.
Cindy is Tournament Director for the Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship. This tournament, now in it's 30th year, was started to provide junior girls with the same opportunity and recognition for competition as boys. It has become a leading National Junior Girls Tournament and is attended each year by top college recruiters. Sponsored by Hewlett Packard, the Silver Belle Championship is held at the ASU Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, AZ. It is open to girls 13-24 with a handicap of 16 or better, and is worth significant points for the National Amateur Rankings.
The event is held in late December. "I am proud to be Tournament Director," says MacNider "and especially proud to help carry on Joanne Winter's legacy in promoting girls in golf." Former winners include Mary Bea Porter-King, Jennie Lidback, Danielle Ammaccapane, Debbie Parks, and Emilee Klein.
