Beverly Miller, PGA/PGA Teaching Professional
The Falls Golf Course - O'Fallon, Missouri

"My pleasure in teaching comes from the smiles and grins on the faces of a student when they complete a shot," states Beverly Miller, PGA and LPGA teaching professional. I began golf as a fill-in for a group of ladies that needed a fourth to get a group rate on their lessons. I had given the game of golf up for 21 years after I got married to raise my children. The instructor that gave us our group lesson told me that I could be a professional. I asked him how and that year I joined the PGA of America.

As a player, Bev has competed in four LPGA Tour events, six National LPGA T&CP Championships, seven LPGA sectional events, the 1999 and 2000 Midwest Section Senior Championship. She has competed in over 40 PGA sectional events, three PGA Team Championships, and four LPGA Team Championships. Never playing as an amateur in a tournament, Bev turned professional 12 years ago and has competed as a professional since.

Beverly has been an LPGA/PGA teaching professional since 1993. She is currently the LPGA President of the Midwest Section. In 1996, she earned the Midwest Section LPGA Professional of the Year honors.

As an instructor, teaching a skill to a student, and watching that student reach levels they never dreamed possible is truly rewarding to Bev. She has taught all levels of players and has some amateur champions. Actually Bev believes, all of her students are champions. "If they can find the pleasure in a sport I love, then I am even more excited than they are. They just don't know it. Watching students, and friends accomplish tasks is the reward a teacher gets out of teaching. A transfer of knowledge from teacher to student is our heritage. What better place to do this life event than in golf," claims Bev.

Bev’s students state that she is easy to understand, and the way she teaches is great. She puts her students first and goes the extra mile to accommodate their time and schedule. She has a lot of referrals from her first-time students. She finds satisfaction in all levels of students, and has fun when she teaches. She  recommends that everyone find a teacher they are comfortable with and stick with them. The better teachers will be the ones who have put themselves where you want to be. How else can they teach you what you will need to know to get better. If they can't go the extra mile, how can they ask you to?

"I teach the golf swing to the student at the level of the student," says Beverly. "I teach the student so they walk away with an understanding of what they are trying to accomplish." Beverly adds that she specializes in mid-irons and understanding the golf swing. She focuses on where the student is, not on re-building the entire swing.
