Katherine Nino, LPGA Teaching Professional

Competing at an elite level of tournament golf since the age of fourteen, Katherine Nino attended Stanford University as a full scholarship recruit.  She played academic year-round and competed in over sixteen events each year.  From 1980-84, the Stanford Cardinal were ranked continuously in the top five nationally, and the team competed in the NCAA National Championship.  She continues today to remain active in competitive professional tournament events.

After graduating from Stanford with a BA in political science, she entered graduate school and concurrent with her doctoral studies, worked in private practice as a psychotherapist for two years. She assumed the role and all responsibilities of a full-fledged licensed MFCC, while counseling individuals, couples, and families.  In addition she was a Workers Compensation and Disability Consultant with CIGNA Insurance for six years.  Katherine now holds a Masters degree in Psychology and has completed all coursework toward her doctorate in Psychology.

Katherine's teaching career began with friends and acquaintances informally for more than ten years.  In 1996, she joined the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division (T&CP), and began teaching professionally.   She currently conducts a variety of programs for men and women, including corporate clinics and tournament events, couples clinics and golf schools, and individual instruction at the Golf Institute at Monterey Bay, conducted at both the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses (old Fort Ord) in Seaside, CA.  

In 1999, she will be conducting many corporate programs, including seminars that address golf and business.  Given her business background, Katherine is able to appeal to the golfing population with the personal knowledge and experience of using golf as a networking tool.   With her prior educational and work experience, she is qualified to address the mental aspects of the game in a comprehensive manner.  This includes the learning styles of men and women along with performance related issues.
