started the Tri-State Junior Golf Association and "Kids Helping Kids," a program

fortunate.
Numerous PGA and LPGA Tour players made their golfing debuts in Pepsi Little People's. Most noted is LPGA Professional Vicki Goetze-Ackerman, who in 1978 won her first tournament in the girls 3-5 division by a whopping 113 strokes for the eight holes played. Other alumni now in the pro ranks include Jerry Haas, Dicky Pride, Chris Smith, Emlyn Aubrey, Kelly Robbins, Pearl Sinn, Michelle McGann, LaRee Sugg, and Kristal Parker-Gregory, to name just a few.
The Tri State Junior Golf Association, encompassing an area of 75-100 miles of Quincy, is for boys and girls aged through 17, and is sponsored by KHQA TV-7 and Landmarx. The events involve 5 to 7 one-day tournaments, in age groups, at various courses in the tri-state area, plus a free junior golf clinic where everyone that needs a club gets one to take home for free. The kids get points for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place plus attendance.
