James Samsing, PGA Golf
Professional
The Wigwam Resort - Litchfield Park, Arizona
Having the satisfaction of watching his students games develop, is the reward Jim Samsing holds most dear, along with the wonderful friendships that have developed. Starting his golf career at Montebello Country Club in 1969, Jim inevitably became the head professional at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA, in 1975. During that year, he was host professional of the LPGA Nabisco Dinah Shore Tournament, won by Sandra Palmer, firing a tournament record five-under-par 283 (at that time).
Jim spent two years as a teaching assistant at San Gabriel Country Club (CA), before taking a hiatus from golf for a few years. He worked as a marketing expert of heavy products for Oasis Petroleum, light products for Tesoro Petroleum, and as a broker for Energy Brokers, Inc.
Returning to the profession in 1990, Jim taught at Fort Collins Country Club (CO) for about three years. As a Class A member of the PGA, Jim also taught for seven years at the Jack Nicklaus designed signature Ptarmigan Country Club, built in 1988 and located in Northern Colorado. He is now located in the Phoenix area teaching at the Wigwam Resort. Jim teaches individual lessons, holds clinics, provides instruction for the ladies, and works with juniors.
