With
many years experience in managing and marketing a full service resort facility, Kathy Wake still finds time to give back. She is
one of the most active professionals in the golf industry today. She is
currently serving as President of the LPGA T&CP Western Section.
Of her many accomplishments as a golf professional, the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Division honored Kathy in 1997 as the recipient of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division (T&CP) National Professional of the Year Award, presented by Top-Flite/Etonic. This award introduced in 1980, honors the LPGA professional who notably manages a total golf program. The winner must manage a golf shop, have shown exceptional leadership within and dedication to the game and been active in LPGA T&CP Division sectional and national events, tournament supervision and promotion of junior and women's golf.
Kathy's many accomplishments include: organizing and hosting the 1996 and 1997 Top-Flite/Etonic LPGA Western Section Championship; Founder and Director of the Annual Northern California PGA Women's Cup Matches; 1994-96, 2005 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-AM Qualifying Host; 1997 NCGA Regional Qualifying Host; NIKE San Jose Open Qualifying Host since1995; 2004 PGA Stage 1 Tour Qualifying Hose; instructor at the nationally recognized Gillette LPGA Golf Clinic's for Women, the Monterey Soroptimist Women's Golf Clinic, and the Crayola LPGA Junior Girls Golf Clinic. She has also written instructional articles for various news media.
Kathy is currently the Head Golf Professional at Carlsbad Golf Center, North San Diego County's Golf Headquarters in Carlsbad, CA. Carlsbad Golf Center was recognized and voted top 100 Ranges in the USA and Top New Range by Golf Range Magazine, 2003 & 2004; Recognized and voted top 25 Pro Shop in the USA by Golf for Women Magazine, 2003; Voted by the San Diego Chapter in 2003 and Southern California PGA Section in 2004 for Merchandiser of the Year Award for public facilities, and most recently nominated for 2005 National Merchandiser of the Year for public facilities.
A 1987 graduate of California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, CA with a degree in Physical Education, Kathy continues her education through PGA and LPGA national education programs. In 1997, Kathy was chosen as the LPGA T&CP Western Section Professional of the Year. She received the 1997 Golf for Women Magazine award as one of the Top100 Women Friendly Courses, and has been honored by the Maxfli-PGA Junior Championship for her dedicated service and commitment to golf. She has qualified and competed in the televised Northern California Toyota Team Classic.
Kathy has over fifteen years experience in directing, coordinating, and marketing all golf activities for both an 18-hole and 36-hole facility. She has held the Director of Golf/ Head Golf Professional position at Ridgemark Golf & Country Club in Hollister, CA and at San Juan Oaks Golf Club, the brain child of PGA touring pro Fred Couples and award winning course architect Gene Bates, in San Juan Bautista, CA
